Homo habilis, which literally translates to “skilled man”, is the oldest known member of the human genus. They lived between 2.8 and 1.5 million years ago, were omnivorous, social and inhabited large areas of sub-Saharan Africa. When they were first discovered in the 1960s, they differed from other primitive hominids by a series of very human characteristics. These included larger brains, arched feet, smaller teeth and hand bones, suggesting that they could manipulate objects with precision.
The only known identity of a Handyman is Samuel Gerst. In an office in Finkton Docks, a voxophone recorded by Samuel's wife, Hattie, reveals that he developed stomach cancer after several years of working on Monument Island. She then claims that Comstock gave her husband a new body through his servant, Fink. Later, when Daisy Fitzroy delivers her victory speech in Shantytown, the player may find some members of Vox Populi posing for photographs next to Samuel died near the night shift.
In his hand he carries a voxophone containing a comforting message from Hattie. I think it's weird that Carrie and Laura call their handyman Uncle Chris, especially after to have known him only for a day.
